my how time flies...

Hmmm...I've recently noticed that my last update was on Thanksgiving, so I guess it's about time to post something new!  Life seems to be going well...I'm in my 7th month working for Head Start which means I finally qualify for my pay increase and get paid time off. (Praise Him!)  The months really have been flying by, and I can't believe how quickly I've taken to this job...I've learned so much about the field of Social Work, and am getting so much practical experience working with high risk families.  And I really like the team that I get to work with every day!  It was definitely a huge transition being back in a secular enviornment, but it's been good.  God's looking out for me, one of the women who recently got hired that works at the same site as me is a youth pastor's wife...so it's nice knowing that there's someone else around who shares the same beliefs and morals.

Let's see, what else?  I moved into my own apartment exactly one month ago today, and I absolutely love it!  I moved in with my friend Cristina, and our apartment is HUGE!  We've got some 70's carpet patterns that are chillin in a few rooms, but it's ok lol.  It's so nice to have my own place...my first "grown up" living space.  Everywhere else I've lived has been dorm-oriented, or at my mom's house, so it's a pleasant change.

And in other random-but-exciting-to-me news, I went online last night and ordered the new Jason Upton cd/dvd "Between Earth & Sky", which should be released in a few days!  The last time I saw him live was 2 Novembers ago at Brownsville with Sarah Jean, and it's been way too long!  And speaking of Brownsville, I also ordered the dvd set of the Branded by Fire conference that I went to last summer when I was finishing up my time at TC.  Ahhh, memories. :)

So yeah.  That's about it for now I think.  Time to go tanning and then probably stop by the mall to visit my roommate who's working at Bath & Body Works...where I will most likely spend some money lol.

:)

life is good

Time is definitely flyin' by!  I've been working at the new job for almost a month already...and it's going really well!  And better yet, I finally got a full paycheck...the biggest paycheck I've ever gotten in my life!  That in and of itself is a wonderful feeling.

three cheers for employment

Getting started on this new job with Head Start has been the longest process EVER!  Drug test, background check, pre-employment physical, TB test....I didn't ever think I was actually going to start working!  Thankfully, I'm finishing up the last of the paperwork, and I should be starting work at my new site on Wednesday!  I'm soooo excited....excited for the challenge of learning a new job, and excited that I'll finally be getting a real paycheck!  It's been a rough few months financially, making the adjustment to living at home, but through Sarah and Chris letting me babysit for little Nicholas, God has made ends meet.  Praise Him!

On Saturday I went with my dad and stepmom to the Big E....I haven't been in so long!  I had such a good time.  I think the thing that I love most about this fair is that no matter how many years you've been away, while minor things are changed, the majority of things stay exactly the same.  You know exactly what you're going to find on each street and in each buliding.  It's a New England autumn tradition.  Check it out: www.thebige.com

Well I guess that's about it for right now....

it's a new season....

It's been awhile...I can't believe I've been home for over a month already.  Things are going really really well, too.  It's been so nice to get to hang out with my family and friends that I've been away from for so long, and I've finally started to feel like I'm really home and not just on some extended vacation or something.  It took a lot of getting used to since I haven't lived in Mass fulltime in 5 years!  Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year in New England, and I'm thrilled that I am here for all the fall highlights like the Portuguese Festa in my town (which was last weekend), the Seafood Festival at Hampton Beach, NH this coming up weekend, and then the Big E (the Eastern States Exposition) the next couple of weeks after that.

I'm looking forward to all the traditional fall activities like apple picking, pumpkin picking, the trees turning amazing shades of red and orange, yard raking parties, cooler weather, sweatshirts, bonfires....can you tell it's good to be home?  It's been so long since I've gotten to be here for all this!

The job hunt is finally officially over...after the lengthy interview process, I've been offered the position of Family Services Coordinator with HCS Head Start.  This is AMAZING news, since I've been out of work since the end of July!  I've been having a ton of fun babysitting little 4 month old Nicholas for Sarah and Chris. (Which has been SUCH a God-send because otherwise I would have had no way to pay the bills this month!) but now it's time to get started in a new job opportunity!  God is so faithful.
